Ciarán Hinds (born 9 February, 1953) is an Irish[2] actor from Northern Ireland who portrays Aberforth Dumbledore in the film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.[3]

Probably his best-known role in recent years is as Gaius Julius Caesar in HBO's historical miniseries Rome, which co-starred Guy Henry as Cassius (one of Caesar's assassins) and Kathryn Hunter as Queen Cleopatra's maid, Charmian.

His other roles include appearances in the Oscar-nominated film In Bruges (in which his role was uncredited, and which also starred Brendan Gleeson, Ralph Fiennes, and Clémence Poésy); the spy thriller Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, starring Gary Oldman, John Hurt, Toby Jones, Simon McBurney and Roger Lloyd-Pack.[4]; and the 2012 horror film The Woman in Black, starring Daniel Radcliffe.

He also voiced "Botticelli," the lead antagonist of the 2009 animated film The Tale of Despereaux, with Emma Watson and Robbie Coltrane.

Hinds currently portrays Mance Rayder, the Wildling King-Beyond-The-Wall in the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones, based on the A Song of Ice and Fire novels by George R.R. Martin. The series has also featured Michelle Fairley, Natalia Tena, Julian Glover, David Bradley, Ralph Ineson, Bronson Webb, Edward Tudor-Pole and Ian Whyte.
