Libatius Borage was a wizard author and an potioneer. Most notably, Libatius Borage wrote Advanced Potion-Making, a Potions textbook used at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for N.E.W.T.-level classes.[2]
It is known that Libatius Borage was not as good in potioneering as Severus Snape, because the latter added many footnotes in his edition of Borage's book to improve the brewings mentioned there. However, as Borage wrote a book for sixth-year student at Hogwarts it is obvious that he was an accomplished potioneer.
Etymology[]
Libatius Borage's name probably derived from libation, a ritual offering of drink to the gods, and Borage, an edible herb believed to bestow excitement and courage in the hearts of those who consumed it.
