MacDougal family |
Morag MacDougal was a student who began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1991.
Behind the scenes[]
- As Isobel MacDougal never appears in the Harry Potter novels, it is possible that she is the same character as Morag, having been renamed at some point without J.K. Rowling noting the change on her hand-written list of the forty original students in Harry's year.
Etymology[]
Morag is from Gaelic mór, "tall." Dougall is from the Gaelic Dubhgall, or "dark stranger," and "Mc" is "son of."
Appearances[]
- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (First appearance)
- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (film)[1]
- Harry Potter and Me
Notes and references[]
- ↑ Despite this character not actually being identified in the film, they were sorted in 1991 and therefore were present in the films adaption of the sorting amongst the crowd of first years, as they had to be sorted and even though they weren't mentioned they'd still be one of the students in that crowd.
