The Rear Hall was a large open hall accessible via a corridor leading from the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher's office. It was carpeted, and bookshelves covered the walls. There were also several paintings in this room. It was located next to the Gryffindor Tower and as such the Fat Lady's portrait was near here.[1]
