These two towers flanked the entrance to the Viaduct Courtyard via the Viaduct. They were used to watch over the Viaduct.

These towers came under Death Eater fire during the start of the Battle of Hogwarts on 2 May, 1998. They were, as a result, partly destroyed — both of their roofs were blown off — although the left tower (when facing the Entrance Hall from the Viaduct) sustained the most damage.
